Ego. It's a loaded and often misunderstood concept. It's important to have enough to have the drive and confidence to be a high performer. However, too much and we alienate people. Too little ego and we shrink at the hard challenges of life because we think we are not smart or talented enough to make things happen. It's a fine line when "controlling" our ego. We had a great panel this with Ken Midgett, nationally recognized instructor in the plumbing trade and Bruce DeLoatch, our resident philosopher and IICRC instructor.
